So a bit about us…
My name’s Ryan and I run The Wellness Blog with my girlfriend, Suzie. We’re an ordinary couple from just outside of London, England. We live in our little flat with our house rabbits, Tommy and Bella. We have a passion for all things wellness, weight loss and yoga – and we’re crazy about food.
Our romantic story is that we actually met on Tinder – you know, that lame dating app?! Suzie initially ignored me so I had to message her twice. She still makes fun of me for this but there was no way I wasn’t going on a date with that pretty little blonde thing!
Fast-forward to 2017, we decided to make The Wellness Blog in a pursuit of spreading our love and knowledge of wellness, weight loss and yoga to anyone who was crazy enough to read it.
The decision to create our website in the Health and Wellness niche was really a no-brainer. Just take a look at these mind-blowing statistics:
- 2/3 of Americans are now either overweight or obese
- Since 1980, obesity rates for adults have doubled and rates for children have tripled
- If trends continue at the current rate, 100% of Americans will be overweight or obese by the year 2048
Need I say more? These statistics are shocking. Just re-read that last bullet point… If we keep doing what we’re doing for the next 30 years, ALL of Americans will be overweight.
The UK and USA are two of the fattest countries on the planet, yet they’re also the biggest spenders when it comes to weight loss products. How does that work?!
Well, we think this is due to a variety of different reasons:
- Bad weight loss information on the internet
- Eating the wrong types of foods
- Using incorrect exercise methods
- Hormone imbalances (this applies to both men and women!)
However with the right information and guidance, losing weight and keeping your body healthy isn’t as difficult as you may think…
Here at the Wellness Blog, we will provide you with the most useful content backed by both science and experience for you to apply to your day-to-day life. No bullshit methods around here – it’s time to earn it the proper way!
So now you know what we spend our lives learning about and what to expect from our blog.
Apologies if we’ve bored you to death already, but just in case you’d like to know more about us, we’ve written a little bit about ourselves below. Enjoy!
So I’m Ryan and I’m a former British Army soldier. I’ve been obsessed with health and fitness ever since I was a teenager, and have always had a passion for strength training and lifting heavy weights.
However, since visiting Thailand and immediately falling in love with their amazing culture, I’ve developed a strong interest in yoga and meditation. I still enjoy getting in the gym and pumping iron, but I’m no longer an ego-driven teenager, so I’ve implemented a lot more yoga and cardio (definitely some of Suzie’s influence) into my routine to take care of my overall health.
Since leaving the military, I decided that I needed a new purpose for my training. As much as I love taking care of my body, I like to have a goal which is bigger than just myself – something which drives me forward and makes me want to learn more every day.
This was where the idea of a blog originated from. The idea of helping thousands of people improve their lives through health and wellness is, in my opinion, definitely something worth getting out of bed for!
Hi guys, I’m Suzie! I come from a Fashion Buying background and I originally started exercising for the same reason most people do – to offset the negative health effects of working in an office. I never really did much exercise unless I was running after a train!
After a couple of years of yo-yoing through diets and simply working out so I could eat more cake, in 2015 I was diagnosed with Arthritis in my lower back. This was a huge turning point for me, as I then realised the effect a healthy (or unhealthy) diet and lifestyle can have on your body. I initially looked into different ways of using diet, exercise and yoga in order to manage the condition, and long story short, the results were astounding.
I got leaner, stronger, and the only time my back ever gives me any grief nowadays is if I go on a long-distance run with Ryan – which I definitely avoid at all costs as his legs are MUCH longer than mine!
I’ve preached the benefits and importance of diet and yoga ever since (check out our yoga articles for more information) and I now exercise pretty much every day. I can’t even begin to explain how much better I feel now compared to a couple of years ago!
